Singapore's latest attraction isn't just the world's largest aquarium - it's also the location of the world's largest acrylic panel, although the latter admittedly isn't quite such an exciting record. The panel in question measures 36 metres by eight metres, is almost a metre thick and weighs a quarter of a tonne. The aquarium's tanks contain 42.8 million litres of water and 80,000 sea creatures, with more species - including hammerhead sharks and bottlenose dolphins - due to arrive later this year.Bing search results for Sea Aquarium

These include beluga whales, bottlenose dolphins, manta rays and whale sharks (it's the only aquarium outside Asia to house the latter species). The aquarium is also home to one of the most hi-tech animal hospitals around. The Correll Center for Aquatic Animal Health incorporates surgical suites, intensive care units, quarantine space and water-testing facilities.Bing search results for Georgia AquariumtopGeorgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta, US - 3(©Georgia Aquarium)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAEThe guys at the Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium were obviously relying on appearances when they created their super-sized fish tank, because let's face it, the name's pretty boring. In their defence, it’s certainly one of the more impressive aquariums, containing over 500,000 litres of water, 4,000 fish, an underwater tunnel and a network of artificial coral and cave systems.Bing search results for Burj Al ArabtopBurj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Burj Al Arab lobby aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 4(©Burj Al Arab)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, GermanyIf Chanel designed aquariums, this is probably what they would look like. This stylish Berlin-based aquarium, which can be found inside the city’s Radisson SAS hotel, is home to 1,500 fish - and an elevator, which passes through the centre of the cylindrical tank. The fish are fed four times a day by a team of divers and one million litres of water, combined with 33 tonnes of sea salt, are circulated through the tank every hour. Bing search results for AquadomtopBerlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Berlin Aquadom, Radisson Blu, Berlin, Germany - 5(©Radisson Blu)Churaumi, Okinawa, JapanThe enormous Churaumi aquarium is one of the few aquariums to keep whale sharks in captivity, although whether that's a good thing or not depends on your outlook. Churaumi (meaning beautiful ocean) is the world’s second largest aquarium with over 26,000 animals contained in 77 tanks. The largest tank, known as Kuroshio Sea, incorporates the world's second largest acrylic panel, which measures eight meters by 22.5 meters and has a thickness of 60 centimetres.Bing search results for ChuraumitopChuraumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Churaumi, Okinawa, Japan - 6(©Churaumi aquarium)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, CanadaWhen it opens this summer, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada will be one of the largest aquariums in the world, with 13,500 exotic and sea and freshwater creatures, a tropical reef tank and a 98-metre-long acrylic tunnel, which will snake through the aquarium's shark lagoon. The various tanks will represent the world's waterways and oceans, ranging from the Amazon river to Greenland's icy Baffin sea.Bing results for Ripley's Aquarium of CanadatopRipley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, Toronto, Canada - 7(©Ripley's Aquarium of Canada)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAEThe Dubai Mall Aquarium houses the world's largest collection of sand tiger sharks, along with 140 other species of marine life. Visitors can explore the main tank in several ways: in addition to the viewing area, there's an underwater tunnel and it's also possible to take a glass-bottomed boat ride or sign up for a snorkel tour.In 2011, the aquarium hit the headlines when a crack appeared in the main viewing panel, prompting fears that the mall was about to be flooded with millions of litres of water and 33,000 sea creatures. Although security staff were initially instructed to don life jackets, the crack was quickly fixed and disaster averted.Bing search results for Dubai Mall AquariumtopDubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Dubai Mall Aquarium, Dubai, UAE - 8(©Dubai Mall Aquarium)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, TurkeyThe oddly-named Turkuazoo aquarium was Europe's largest aquarium when it opened in 2009. It currently houses more than 10,000 sea creatures in 43 different tanks, the largest of which holds almost five million litres of water. Species on display include sharks, giant stingrays, groupers, piranhas and octopi, and the aquarium's highlight is an 80-meter-long conveyor belt through Europe's longest underwater tunnel. The tunnel passes through a tank containing tiger sharks, nurse sharks, zebra sharks, giant stingrays and guitar sharks. And yes, apparently the latter do indeed resemble musical instruments.Bing search results for TurkuazootopTurkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Turkuazoo, Istanbul, Turkey - 9(©Turkuazoo)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, MexicoThe Xel-Ha is what's known as a natural aquarium, although you wouldn't be the first to question whether that's just another name for the sea. The aquarium status is apparently the result of a shark fence, which prevents larger creatures entering the lagoon, and the way in which the species within Xel-Ha are deliberately introduced and maintained. The presence of both freshwater and seawater means that the inlet in which the aquarium is located is home to both marine creatures and freshwater fish, and it's possible to swim and dive alongside the creatures.Bing search results for Xel-Ha topXel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)Xel-Ha aquarium, Cancun, Mexico - 10(©Xel-Ha aquarium)L'Oceanogràfic, Valencia, SpainThis Valencia landmark is one of the largest aquariums in the world, with over 45,000 sea creatures covering 500 species, including dolphins, walruses, sea lions and beluga whales.
